Stash hides everything from view with one key and restores it after — the useful little brother of “clean up before you share your screen.”

The comparison that matters is against the incumbents. Rectangle, Lasso, Swish, and Bartender 5 all live in the same general category, but they wait to be asked. Since the front of a Chrome window is whatever tab is active, the stable part, the profile suffix, isn’t what the matcher reads yet. He then asked a sharp follow-up: are these regular Chrome profiles, or profiles launched by automation with their own user data directories? The second kind drops the suffix, which changes the feature design. Javaid said five profiles, regular Chrome, driven by an extension. Chopra called it “the best-case setup” and scoped two roadmap items: weighting the stable suffix over the changing tab title, and adding a “when this window becomes active, snap it here” trigger. This matters more than any polished launch video. It shows the maker understands the difference between window layout and window identity. We don’t just have multiple windows; we have multiple versions of the same app representing different brands, clients, and business managers. If Workflo can learn to recognize the stable profile suffix, it becomes genuinely useful for account-switching. If it stops at “he’s got two Chrome windows, I’ll split the screen,” it’s just another tiling manager with a calendar fetish.

The five-Chrome-profiles problem is the real creator-economy infrastructure

I’d bet that more than half the social media managers I know run at least three browser profiles: personal, brand, and agency or client. Add a YouTube channel with a separate login, a Pinterest business account, and a client ad account, and you’re at five before lunch. We don’t talk about this more because it sounds trivial — it’s just tabs. But every time you click the wrong Chrome profile, you’re one wrong comment away from posting to the wrong account. You don’t have to buy Workflo to apply its mental model. Here’s what I’d steal.

First, think in scenes, not apps. Instead of “I need to open my design tool and a spreadsheet and a research doc,” define a repeatable content workflow as a scene. For me, a “batch caption” scene would be a text editor on the right, a spreadsheet of hooks on the left, and a scheduling tool in the center. A “video editing” scene would be CapCut or your editor on the main display, the source video on the second, the script on the third. Once you know your top three scenes, you can configure Workflo to stage them by time or calendar, or recreate the same effect with a plain hotkey and a prayer. The difference is reliability.

Second, delegate context-switch timing to your calendar. The most useful feature here isn’t window snapping; it’s the calendar trigger. If you don’t already block time for content pillars, you’re missing a low-level automation that has nothing to do with AI. A recurring block called “TikTok batch” can work as a trigger for the desktop to prepare itself. This is a philosophy that scales across all your tools: let the schedule do the remembering.

Third, choose tools that minimize permissions. Every app you install with screen-recording access is a potential leak, a potential IT headache, and a potential macOS update failure. Workflo’s Accessibility-only constraint is a good reminder to audit your own stack. Which tools actually need to see your screen? Which ones just want to? The answer is usually fewer than you think.

Why TikTok creators should care more than LinkedIn ones

I don’t want to overstate the relevance for text-first creators. If your entire content practice is writing LinkedIn posts in the browser and scheduling them with Later, you probably don’t need a Mac window automator. Your context switches are tiny — one tab to the next. The pain gets real when your content is multi-window and multi-app: a TikTok or Instagram creator editing in CapCut, pulling audio from the app, checking a video reference on YouTube, and watching a stream chat in OBS. That’s four or five windows that need to be in the right place, and the cost of misarrangement is a missed upload or a screen-share embarrassment. Short-form video production is where a tool like this earns its keep.

Where the math breaks

I want to be honest about the limits.

Workflo is Mac-only. If your operation runs on Windows, it doesn’t help. It also doesn’t see your screen, by design. That’s a privacy win, but it means it can’t understand the content of what you’re working on. It can’t tell you which video export is finished, which caption draft is stale, or which analytics dashboard is about to eat your afternoon. It’s a deterministic window placer, not an AI workspace agent. If you wanted a tool that reads your screen and suggests workflows, this is not that.

The current title-matching has a real edge case. As the maker admitted, Workflo reads the front of window titles, so a Chrome window’s active tab dominates the match. For multi-profile users, the stable profile suffix — the part that identifies the account — is not yet what drives matching. It’s on the roadmap, but today you might get a Scene that opens Chrome to the wrong profile. And if you launch Chrome profiles with automation and separate user-data directories, the suffix disappears entirely. That’s a niche use case, but for growth marketers running browser automation, it’s exactly their use case.

The triggers are also narrower than the vision implies. The launch thread confirms today’s triggers are time and calendar; the “when this window becomes active” trigger is still a scoped roadmap item. That means the product isn’t yet fully automatic in the way the tagline suggests. If your day isn’t governed by calendar events, Workflo’s best feature only fires when you remember to block time. The Stash hotkey and Desks still work — but those are closer to the reactive tools Chopra wants to supersede.

Finally, it’s not a growth tool. It won’t fix algorithm distribution, improve engagement rate, or make your UTM tracking cleaner. It’s a macOS utility with a one-time price of $19.99, a 7-day free trial, and a 20% launch discount, per the launch page. No account, ~4 MB of native Swift, local-only. The source doesn’t disclose active user counts, and I don’t think it matters yet. What matters is whether the developer keeps fixing edge cases like Chrome profile matching.

Who is this NOT for? Windows users. Teams that need centralized configuration across multiple machines. Anyone who wants an AI assistant that watches your work and anticipates your intent. And anyone who buys it because they think it will save social media engagement. It won’t. It will save you minutes, and the question is whether those minutes compound into a longer, more sustainable creative session. My take: for a solo creator or a small social team living in Chrome and a few heavyweight apps, they can.

What I’d watch / test next

If I were evaluating Workflo for my own setup, I’d do three things this week. First, download the 7-day trial and build one Scene for the context switch that annoys me most — probably the “record a short-form video” setup. I’d see whether the calendar trigger reliably stages windows before I sit down, and whether Stash restores everything after a screen share. Second, I’d stress-test the Chrome profile matching with five regular profiles, the same setup Abdullah described. The maker has said the stable suffix weighting and an active-window trigger are coming; I’d want to see whether the current version at least opens the right profile window when a Scene fires. Third, I’d compare it against Rectangle and Swish for the purely reactive cases. If Workflo only saves me thirty seconds twice a day, it’s not worth $19.99. If it kills the “what was I doing again?” moment, it’s cheap. I’ll be watching the changelog — and the forum thread where the maker promised to ping users when the window-matching overhaul ships. Workflo is a bet on proactive workspace design. I want to see if the roadmap catches up to the pitch.
